Dodge's First Visit to Chuck E Cheese's

For one of our summer activities this year we thought we would take Dodge to Chuck E Cheeses, because he has never been. I personally think that there are three places a kid has to go before they hit their young adult years, Disney World, Six Flags, and Chuck E Cheese's. When I was a little girl, my father took me to Disney world, and my mother took me to Six Flags. I remember how much I loved going to those amusement parks, and how much fun I had. My kids have been to a couple of festivals and carnivals, but this year was the first time they all been to an amusement park, including Dodge. Anyway, this story is not about me, but it is about Dodge and how much fun he has had this summer with us. When we first got to Chuck E Cheese's the first thing we did was take some fun pictures outside of the building. Dodge did not seem to like that very much. He had built up all this energy to go and have fun on the rides and games, the last thing he wanted to do was take pictures. After about 10 minutes of taking pictures outside, Dodge began to get impatient and asked, "Is it time to go in and have some fun." I knew he had been patiently waiting to go in and see what was waiting for him. The other kids had already been to Chuck E Cheese's before, so they knew about all the games, tokens, pizza, and rides. When we finally got in, Dodge eyes lit up with excitement, it was like christmas morning for him. He was so confused though, he did not know which ride to get on first, or what game he wanted to play. But he finally chose a game. The first game he played, he played a racecar game with Austin. They seemed to enjoy it alot. Once they got tired of that, they headed over to a airlift ride. Dodge really enjoyed that. He laughed and laughed some more on that ride. I think the game he had the most fun on was the tossing ball game. For this game the person has to insert a token and they then recieve 9 balls; so they get 9 chances to get this ball into several slots that are labeled, 10,000, 30,000, 50, 000, and 100,000. Depending on which ever slot the ball falls in will determine how much tickets you will receive. Dodge really liked this game, and he was good at it. Sometimes the ball would miss and sometimes he would through the ball so high that it would go up in the air. It was funny; it looked dangerius too. I really thought someone was going to get hurt, so I convinced him to play another game. Eventually we all ran out of tokens, so we went to cashed in our tickets to see how much we all got. I had the most; I got 589 tickets. All the kids were begging for my tickets so that they could get something, but I decided to hold on to them for future events. Traneice did not do to bad either, she received 96 tickets. I thought that was good for her age. After we all got out count for our tickets we all got a bag of cotton candy, and Dodge got his everywhere. His hands were really sticky. And that was Dodge's First time at Chuck E Cheese's.

Family Funplex

The family Funplex was really fun. My in-laws were moving to New Mexico at the time, so wanted to visit with us for a while, because they did not know how long it would be before we saw one another again. Also, they brought Dodge (my step son) to us from Idaho to save us some gas money, so it worked at for all of us. While they were here we thought we should do something exciting, because we have not done many family activities together with one another, since Austin and I have been married. The first thing we did with them was celebrate my mother in-laws birthday at the park. That was really exciting because we had a BBQ, and the kids seemed to really enjoy that, especially Kianna. Kianna is my littlest sister in-law. I do mean littlest. Kianna is 4 years old and she is sooooo cute. She got mad at me when I went to distribute the cake, because I assumed that since she was so little that she would not be able to eat a big slice of cake like the rest of the children. Well, she did not like that I gave her a smaller piece than everyone else, so she started crying. I felt so ashamed, because I broke that little girl’s heart. As I kept asking her what was wrong, she continued to sob and that made me feel all the more guilty. Finally she told me that she did not like that I gave her a small piece and everyone else a big piece. I quickly rectified the situation, by giving her another slice of cake, bigger than the other children’s slice. She was very happy then. My mother in-law did not look to pleased either when she received her cake. Unlike Kianna’s incident, my mother in-law got part of her cake on her nose, she was not impressed. I guess this day was full of surprises for the Grover girls.
The kids played and had a great time, at the park during Grandma Grover’s birthday party. I distinctly remember my mother in-law telling the kids, “do not get in that pond, I do not want you to get your clothes wet.” After 30 minutes of being there, three kids got their clothes wet, and two got their shoes wet. They did not listen, and she was unimpressed. On the plus side, Austin did a excellent job grilling the hot dogs and hamburgers, it was his second time ever using a grill, but the meat tasted like it was cooked by an professional grilling, namely George Foreman himself. This reunion was full of joy and laughter, and then we went back to our house and watched “The Night at the Museum,” and had popcorn. It was fun.
The second thing that we did with my in-laws was swimming at the Family Funplex. This event was exciting and enjoyable as well, if not better. The funplex had a lot of attractions for little children. It had kiddy slides, big slides, and medium slides. It had a Hawaiian theme that was cool too. Ammon and Ahmad kept nagging me to go on the biggest slide that they had; I was very reluctant, because I have not been on rides or slides in ten years. I was scared. But I also was happy that they wanted to have fun with me, so I tried it anyway, and let me just say, I almost literally had an asthma attack. It was not even one of the biggest or longest slides I have ever been on, but I guess it was scary because I have not done it in so long. I was very upset that they laughed at me on my way down, because I was so scared I was trying to hang on to the sides of the slide and trying to stop myself from moving. All in all it was fun though. After that horrific incident, we went to the main pool and played with some of the little kids. Tymesha and Traneice kept hanging off my neck like little capuchins (monkeys), and I did not like that, but they too were having fun. Dodge and Kianna seemed to like going down the baby slides. They would not stop. Kianna would sit in the water, in the shallow end of the pool, just to see how it covers her body from her bottom to her nose. It was cute. Grandma Grover just sat down in the water and watched all the kids play; she seemed to have enjoyed watching everyone else have fun. It was a very productive and fun filled even

Denver Festival June 5, 2009

Going to the Denver Festival was fun. This was our first time as a family going to a festival;besides looking for parking for an hour, we had a blast. First we took the girls to a tent where they made kiddie hats. The girls really liked that. They put all sorts of shinny beads, pearls, and fuzzy balls on their hats, while Ahmad went to another tent and planted a flower. After the girls found out that Ahmad was planting himself a flower, they too wanted to do one. So Austin and I went with the girls to the flower tent, and helped them plant a flower. They were so excited. Tymesha was especially proud of herself for planting a flower on her own. Next we went to take pictures over at another tent. You know those fun wanted posters that they always have at carnivals and festivals, that families always want to take a picture of? Well that's what we did. But these ones were for individuals, not the whole family. But it was still fun. We were suppose to put only our heads in the cutout circle of the wanted poster, so it would look like our face matched the poster, well Tymesha did not do that the first time around. She put her whole head through the hole. It was funny. Finally, Austin and I were beginning to get tired, so we took the kids to a stand were they sell cotton candy and such and got them some treats. To me a festival is not a festival without cotton candy and funnel cake. Although I was not impressed with how much funnel cake has raised in cost, I just had to get one. We all shared it, it was fun; I got the powdered sugar everywhere. I know the kids had a fun time, because on the drive home the fell asleep within 10 minutes. This was one of the best summer activities we have had this year.

Wilson's Park Pool

This year have brought so much excitement into the Grover's' home. We have been having so much fun and the summer has just began. First we went Wilson's Ranch Water Park in Colorado Springs, that was a blast. We went with my best friend Julie and her children. This was a special treat for us because we have not seen her family since we moved from Fountain, Co to Greeley, Co. The kids seemed to really enjoy one another. We visiting in the park area, while we ate and had some laughs about old times. After we ate we went in to the pool area, put on our swimsuits, and went for a splash in the pool. Jason, Julie's oldest son, had so much fun that he could not stop yelling. They have a little kiddo whirl pool at this water park that spins kids in a circle around the pool, so all the kids were screaming and laughing. All the kids seemed to particularly enjoy this area of the pool. My husband on the other hand was kinda sick so he was not able to get in the pool very much. He just took all the pics. I think the life guards were getting tired of rescuing our children; Tymesha went in to a deep area without our permission and nearly drowned . It sounds a little serious and scary, but there were so many parents and life guards that it would not have happened. During her rescue she was kicking and yelling at the life guard saying "it was not me, it was not me!" It was so funny, and a little embarrassing too. We stayed at this pool for like 2 hours, then we said our good byes to Julie and the her kids, and planned our next big outing together. I have to say I can hardly wait. I miss going out doing stuff with my BFF and I am exciting for Ahmad's and Dodge's B-Day Party, so we can see Julie and have some more fun at another water park.
